The template below provides some ideas for the type of skills and duties that can be included on a job description for a Coach.  The duties should be amended, improved, added to or deleted to suit the circumstances of the club, but in particular to suit the person taking on the job.  e.g. their current commitments, skills, time constraints, etc.

  • Conduct and organize weekly training sessions

  • Make recommendations for players to join higher teams within club
  • Make recommendations for players to represent select/zone teams

 

Relationships

 

Code of Conduct:

  • To promote, teach and perpetuate the game of lacrosse
  • To teach sportsmanship and emphasize Fair Play while keeping the word "FUN" in lacrosse
  • To cultivate respect of officials, spectators and competitors by all members of your association
  • To develop community spirit and pride in your association
  • To present your association and minor lacrosse in the best possible light to the community, our sponsors and all players, compeitors and associations alike.
  • To respect all facilities utilized by your association, as well as the staff working in those facilities.

 

Coaching Philosophy:

Association Coaches are expected to:

  • ensure that the participant's enjoyment of the sport of lacrosse be his/her primary concern.
  • Ensure that the skill development of each participant be of major importance and that the coach improves his/her ability to develop those skills through the use of reading materials, structured practices and communication with other coaches.
  • Ensure that the participants develop a broad sense of Fair Play and Sportsmanship,

 

Association Coaches should remember:

  • That team play and camaraderie is enhanced by placing emphasis on equal playing timne for all athletes, equal skill development opportunities for all athletes and equal praise for team accomplishments
  • That communications with players and parents concerning expectations and philosophies will ensure an enjoyable season and prevent misunderstandings.
  • That a coach's abilities are not measured by a team's win/loss record, but by the development of his/her players and the enjoyment and satisfaction of players alike in their season.
  • That intimidation, abuse, negative criticism and favoritism have no place in sport or in life.
  • That respect, common sense, good judgement, patience, constructive criticism and sportsmanship will enhance your ability to imporve both the players and the sport of lacrosse.
  • That you represent your association, and that the perception of your association and the sport of lacrosse is your responsibility.
